Emergency Services Program

Welcome to RESIG's Emergency Services Program! Here you will find links to information that will help your school and district prepare for and respond to any of the 16 disasters, man-made or natural, that might occur here in Sonoma County.

About us
RESIG's Emergency Services Program had its roots in SchoolGuard, an Emergency Response and Crisis Management Grant Project funded by the U.S. Department of Education (USDOE). Awarded in the fall of 2004, the project brought $486,000 into Sonoma County's 253 public and private schools for preparedness programs.

In 2006, an additional USDOE grant was awarded to the five counties in Region 1: Del Norte, Humboldt, Lake, Mendocino, and Sonoma. As part of the Region 1 Grant, Sonoma County SchoolGuard continued to develop the twenty-on preparedness projects begun during the first grant.

As the Region 1 Grant wound down, RESIG's Joint Powers Board voted to make preparedness a priority by authorizing the creation of the Emergency Services Program. The program will be funded directly by the public schools in Sonoma County. Their vote of confidence in SchoolGuard programs means that staff, principals and superintendents will continue to have access to our programs and services.
