| | | School
district support organizations are vital to the school districts in Sonoma County.
These organizations provide an important source of revenue and support. In addition,
schools can call upon these organizations to accomplish necessary tasks and provide
services that the district can no longer afford. |
| In
recognition of the benefit provided by these volunteer organizations, RESIG has
developed a means to provide coverage for general liability under our existing
program. RESIG's PTO Coverage has been in existence since January 1, 1994.
RESIG's PTO coverage is also available to any Sonoma County public high school's
Project Graduation. The
coverage is made available to all volunteer PTO organizations that meet RESIG's
Risk Management Guideline at a low cost of $350 per calendar year. For

| | A
procedure for the establishment of Charter Schools was enacted by California State
Legislature under Senate Bill 1448, which went into effect on January 1, 1993.
The intent of the State Legislature was to allow innovation and creativity in
the education process;however, | | RESIG
recognized that the Charter Schools could bring unique risk to RESIG not common
to our member districts. RESIG also recognized the importance of providing the
Charter Schools with adequate insurance coverage and risk management programs
to better serve our member districts and the school children in Sonoma County.
Charter
Schools in your district are not automatically covered by RESIG. In fact, Charter
Schools are not insured through RESIG until they successfully complete RESIG's
membership process. The membership process can take as long as 60 to 90 days.
It is important that any Charter School seeking membership in RESIG, request an
application packet from RESIG and provide our office with the required information
as soon as it becomes available. |
